This is a biography of James Frederick (Jim) Bowditch former editor of the Centralian Advocate in Alice Springs and later the Northern Territory News, Darwin. He was also responsible for Editing the Mount Isa Mail for some years. Jim was widely known as a compassionate editor, not afraid to take up and relentlessly pursue causes where he perceived injustices occurring. His pursuit of such causes led to significant changes in national policies such as White Australia and Indigenous Affairs. He had a distinguished wartime career resulting in a Distinguished Service Medal and a United States Bronze Star. In 2018 he was posthumously inducted into the Australian Media Hall of Fame for his services to Journalism.
