Yarragon South : about the people, postal and telephone services / John Hanley

This book documents briefly the postal and telephone history of the area of Yarragon South, located some 5km south of Yarragon in West Gippsland, Victoria. The book provides a snapshot of early history including schools, church life and sport life. It covers the development of postal and telephone facilities of the area including the small rural telephone exchange located in private homes of farming families. It also addresses aspects of the limited postal service to the area. Drawing on accounts by descendants and records the book brings to the reader accounts of family life of the 'Keepers' of the telephone exchange and their families. Tribute is paid to those families whom provided these important public services to the area.
