- Australian methodology for the estimation of greenhouse gas emissions and sinks. Workbook ; 3.1.
- Department of the Environment collection unique titles Australian Greenhouse Office Collection.
- Summary:
-
The focus of this workbook is on the emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), and non methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOC) from all mobile combustion engines. These include domestic road, rail, air and maritime transport, off road vehicles, military transport and mobile and utility engines such as lawn mowers, chain saws, portable generators and mobile compressors. Greenhouse gas emissions resulting from consumption of international bunker fuels are also estimated, where the fuels were purchased in Australia. However, the reporting of emissions from this activity is not included in the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory but reported separately. The methodology in this workbook is a revision of the original methodology for estimating national greenhouse gas emissions and sinks from Transport (Mobile Sources) published in 1994. Nevertheless there will be further refinements with the advance of science and as basic statistics become more widely available. This workbook should be read in conjunction with the revised National Greenhouse Gas Inventory. It should be applied in the production of the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory, and by all agencies wishing to compile inventories of greenhouse gas emissions from fuel combustion in mobile sources in Australia.
