- Biography/History:

Katerina and Axel Clark, born in Melbourne in 1941 and 1943 respectively, are the second and third children of historian Manning Clark and his wife, translater, Dymphna Clark. Both were education in Canberra and Melbourne and became academics. Katerina is a professor of comparative literature and Slavic languages and literatures, and Axel was scholar and lecturer in English, Australian literature and literary biography. Axel died in 2001.
