MS 8696 comprises papers relating to Graeme Clark's career and the development of the bionic ear or cochlear implant, including general correspondence, notebooks and diaries, papers relating to research and development, audio tapes, photographs and slides, speeches, press clippings and other material, certificates and draft material for Clark's book Sounds from silence (2000) and June Epstein's The story of the bionic ear (1989) (14 boxes + 41 archive boxes + 1 album + 2 folders).
The Acc98.130 instalment comprises a bound volume of Scientific publications, vol. 9 (1995-1996); a spiral bound volume of press clippings and media releases, 1969-1998; and, five files of loose press clippings numbered 1-661 (1 box).
The Acc06.189 instalment comprises material relating to the development of the cochlear implant including papers, letters, manuscripts, theses and books; and, material relating to Clark's early life and career (75 boxes + 1 small folio-box + 1 large folio-box).
The Acc09.043 instalment comprises a collection of lecture slides, photographs of cochlear implants, a first day postal cover and certificate of appreciation (4 boxes + 7 cartons + 3 map folios).
The Acc11.013 instalment comprises correspondence and papers relating to various aspects of Clark's work, including the Bionic Ear Institute, Cochlear Ltd., applications for funding, early market study and development cost plan relating to the commercial feasability of cochlear implantation; opening of the Graeme Clark Centre for Innovation in the Sciences; typescripts of addresses by Clark at a variety of functions and conferences; and journals and publications containing articles and writings by or about Clark. There is also a large group of CDs/DVDs with a varied range of subject matters (3 boxes + 1 medium folio-box).
The Acc12.012 instalment consists of papers relating to prizes and awards won by Clark, including the Lister medal, the Zottermann medal, the Otto Schmitt award and the International Speech Association medal, and eight DVDs promoting and celebrating Clark's work (1 box).
The Acc13.101 instalment comprises a bound volume of scientific publications by Graeme Clark from between 2004- 2012; 6 published DVDs of oral history recordings (1 box).
The Acc15.003 instalment comprises typescripts of papers presented; copies of journal articles; publications; reports; submissions; press clippings; and transcripts relating to the development of the Bionic Ear, or cochlear implant (2 boxes).
The Acc16.166 instalment comprises papers relating to the development of a multi-channel cochlear implant. Included are addresses, papers, and lectures presented by Clark; papers relating to his book Cochlear Implants: fundamentals and applications; awards received by Clark; typescripts of articles and book chapters; publications by Clark and others; journals and newsletters; and copies of theses submitted by students at the University of Melbourne. There are also annual reports of the Bionic Ear Institute, the Human Communication Research Centre, and the Cooperative Research Centre (19 boxes).
The Acc18.117 instalment comprises prototypes of Cochlear Implant Receiver-Stimulators dating from 1979, 1982, 1985 and 1990 together with a bound book created by patients to honour Clark on the occasion of his 80th birthday in 2015 (1 box + 1 medium folio-box).
The Acc19.095 instalment comprises papers, abstracts, publications, programs, speeches, addresses, booklets and correspondence related to Graeme M. Clark's research and contributions to the Bionic Ear and other patents, as well as associated awards. It also contains a collection of CDs featuring interviews, research materials, presentations, lectures, conference recordings, and other related content (3 boxes + 1 photographic material).
The Acc24.111 instalment comprises article clippings, publications, papers, research materials, correspondence, speeches, awards, certificates, medals and physical carriers containing interviews and addresses. Series 5 contains Clark's personal reprint library which Clark used for developing the cochlear implant. Also included in this consignment is Clark's personal scrapbook which contains article clippings relating to the early development of his cochlear technology and significant printed documents relating to the first implantation (59 boxes + 3 phase boxes + 1 large folio-box + 1 small folio-box).
