After her husband's death in 1971 Stockfeld moved from the property and began writing an account of their life together, Cream Puffs and Cow Pats. She also worked on an account of her childhood, Grandpa's Wooden Dentures. These works remain unpublished. Stockfeld belonged to the Adult Education Association of Victoria writer's group, and the Society of Women Writers (Australia). Stockfeld died in Melbourne on 21 April 1997.
