Background

Content Summary:

The collection comprises separately arranged groups of correspondence and papers accumulated by Primavera Press during the publication of the following titles:

Paul Brennan, Repetitive strain injuries : explorer's guidebook to tenosynovitis (teno), cumulative trauma syndromes and occupational cervicobrachial disorders, 1985

Finola Moorhead, Remember the Tarantella, 1987

Paul Brennan and Christine Flynn (eds), Patrick White speaks, 1989

Dorothy Green (ed), Descent of spirit: writings of E.L. Grant Watson, 1990 Dorothy Green, Writer reader critic, 1991

E.L. Grant Watson, The nun and the bandit, 1993 (first published in 1935)

Also included is correspondence and papers relating to the proposed re-release by Primavera Press of the E.L. Grant Watson novel Priest Island, which was first published in 1940, copies of a work by E.L. Grant Watson entitled 'To this end' and the memoirs of his wife Katharine Grant Watson, entitled 'Between two worlds'.

Principal correspondents include Dorothy Green and Josephine Spence (E.L. Grant Watson's daughter, and trustee of his works).

The collection contains correspondence, typescripts, proofs, cuttings, photographs, reviews, research material, legal documents and film scripts.

These papers bring together collections of material of value to researchers in a number of areas including Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI), Patrick White, Dorothy Green, E.L. Grant Watson, and, with the papers from Remember the Tarantella, a case study in feminism, sexual politics, social change and the law. The papers in general also document the publication process, including the development of the relationship between the publisher and the author.

It should be noted that even though Descent of spirit, The nun and the bandit and Priest Island are all separate publications, there is some overlap in the content of the papers for these three publications, as they all relate to the writings of E.L. Grant Watson.
