Minute-book 1914-16 of Sydney Consignment Committee dealing with storage and distribution of frozen meat and other foodstuffs consigned by Sydney Chamber of Commerce.

Minute-book 1924-26 of London branch of New Zealand Warehousemen's Association.

Biographical / Historical:

In 1881 a meeting at the Mansion House established the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Its aim was to influence public opinion and Parliament and to bring about reforms that companies acting on their own would be unable to achieve. It was decided that it would be a chamber for the whole metropolis of London and not just the City of London. By 1892 its membership exceeded 3000.

The Australasian Trade Section of the London Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1885. A separate Western Australian Trade Section operated in 1896-1905.
