The collection comprises eleven letters sent to Andrew Endrey from Hu Feng, Mei Zhi and their daughter Zhang Xiaofeng, accompanied by explanatory notes prepared by Andrew Endrey. In 1978, after a year of immersion language studies in Taiwan, Andrew started researching Hu Feng's published works at the University of Melbourne. Andrew wrote his first letter to Hu Feng in 1979 and received a response from his initial letter from Hu in November 1979. Within this collection, topics discussed include Hu Feng's literary works, theories and his health; Japanese writers Eguchi Kan (also known as Eguchi Kiyoshi) and Kaji Wataru; Lu Xun and his works. Andrew Endrey is an Associate Lecturer within Humanities at the University of Western Australia and also a professional translator.

The collection represents a considerable part of Paterson's work and life. There is a large group of his writings in the form of manuscript and typescript drafts of verse, prose, articles and radio plays. Some drafts are fully formed, while others are notes jotted down in journals and diaries. There are papers and photographs relating to Paterson's military service in both the Boer War and World War 1, family correspondence and photographs, newspaper cuttings, ephemera, scrapbooks, and memorabilia.

MS 7073 comprises manuscripts, research notes, typescript drafts, galley proofs, draft notes and correspondence concerning writing and publication of Summers' book Damned whores and God's police, and her autobiography Ducks on the pond. Correspondents include Henry Mayer, Melanie Beresford, Ann Curthoys and staff of Penguin Books. The collection includes a cuttings book containing press cuttings about Summers and Damned whores and God's police; files of research notes; cuttings; and, correspondence on a wide range of topics including women and poverty, single parents, family, Caroline Chisholm, child care, Aboriginal Australians, rape reform proposals, suicide, women unionists, education, prostitution, racism, Womens' Electoral Lobby, Adela Pankhurst Walsh, women and the media. The collection also includes material relating to the journal Refractory girl and the publication of Her story: Australian women in print 1788-1975. The bulk of the papers relate to Hill's published works, forming a comprehensive record of his literary career. There is research material, notebooks, manuscript and typescript drafts, galley and page proofs, correspondence and letters from readers. Major correspondents are Rosemary Creswell (Hill's agent), Max Harris and the numerous publishers with whom Hill dealt. There is a small group of drafts of unpublished short stories, plays and poems and cutting books containing copies of newspaper and journal articles by and about Hill, including reviews of his books.MS Acc12.120 comprises typescript manuscripts, proofs, drafts, outlines, story files, research notes, diaries, ephemera, posters and correspondence relating to Anthony Hill's publications, primarily "Animal Heroes", "Captain Cook's Apprentice" and "The Story of Billy Young".

Papers of Barry Hassell Keane, 1973-1995

The collection comprises forty-nine handwritten and typed letters written by Gwen Harwood to Barry Hassell Keane, between 1973 and 1995. The letters are a combination of practical comments, suggestions of journals to send poetry to for publication, poetry prizes to enter, news, and chat of daily life. The letters reflect the role a nationally significant poet played in mentoring a fellow poet and author. Three of the letters from Gwen Harwood to Barry Hassell Keane were published in 'A Steady Storm of Correspondence', in 2001, by the University of Queensland Press and edited by Greg Kratzman, appearing on pages 304, 337 and 356. Poetry written by Barry Hassell Keane is also included accompanied with Gwen Harwood's comments, notes and suggestions on his poetry throughout many decades. The majority of the pieces commented on in these notes were included in Barry Hassell Keane's collection 'West of the Divide' which he forwared to Angus and Robertson in either 1983 or 1984. A complete copy of the manuscript 'West of the Divide' written by Barry Hassell Keane, two handmade greeting cards both featuring a photograph by Gwen Harwood, two greeting cards sent to Gwen Harwood by her daughter, Mary Harwood, postcards, and newspaper articles are also included in the collection.
