Abstract Or Scope
The original consignment, MS 9811, comprises correspondence, minutes of meetings, postcards, newspaper cuttings, cablegrams, invitations, magazine articles, books, slides and cassette tapes. There is also a collection of photographs with an annotated index. This material was assembled during the course of Manton's work as a consultant specialising in the arts and cultures of Singapore, Malaysia and Indochina. It relates to Cambodia's history and post Khmer Rouge cultural, social and political re-development with a particular focus on the processes of silk weaving. The collection also documents Manton's activities in encouraging Australian participation in the re-establishment of some of Cambodia's fine art processes.

Royal Astronomical Society papers, comprising Secretary's letter-book 1822-1824, original papers submitted to the Society 1820-1900, and correspondence of Joint Permanent Eclipse Committee 1898-1912. Subjects include: Pacific exploring expedition; observations made by Sir Thomas Brisbane at Parramatta 1822-1825; report on Melbourne Observatory for 1878; expedition to Sumatra 1901 to observe total eclipse; and observation of 1908, 1910 and 1911 eclipses in Australia and Pacific.

The collection consists largely of photocopies of the papers of Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru, 1875 – 1949, which were collected, copied and bound by Professor D. A. Low. The original collection is held in full in the National Library of India, Calcutta. The collection documents the Indian National Movement for Independence focussing on the years 1920 to 1949.
