This substantial archive documents Anne Deveson's career, writings and activities towards bringing discussions about social issues into the public domain, notably mental health (particularly schizophrenia), aging, homosexuality, abortion, women's rights, trauma recovery and the experiences of refugees. Boxes in the original collection run have three sets of identifying numbers: those originally assigned by the ACNT, those applied by the commercial storage facility, National Record Managers, and the current consecutive sequence applied by the Library. The Library was selective in accepting material from the collection stored with National Record Managers: around two thirds of that material is retained in the current NLA collection. The latter comprises correspondence with internal and external agencies, promotional pamphlets, meeting and conference minutes, policy and planning documents, reports, photographs, press clippings and materials relating to specific conservation/heritage sites and campaigns. There are also separate files on external bodies such UNESCO and the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

The original transfer of material (2014) comprises correspondence, background material and speeches written and delivered by McComas during his career as a public speaker and comedian plus photographs, university and early legal career papers. The second transfer of material (2018) comprises predominantly analogue audio and video recordings of Campbell McComas delivering speeches, performing comedy routines and taking part in public debates: on radio and television; at revues and festivals; and at conferences and functions for individuals, corporate and public organisations. The 2018 consignment also includes two digital recordings (on disc) and a novelty birthday sweatshirt.

The records extend back to the formation of the Trust in 1954, but most of its early records have not survived. (Some early material may be found in the papers of Sir John Latham (MS 1009), who was the first President of the Trust.) The bulk of the records date from the period 1965-85. They include correspondence, minutes, financial records, subject files, press cuttings, scripts, scores, programs, publicity material, photographs and tape recordings.

The collection consists of Dr Johnson's personal research papers, photographs and slides relating to scientific and historical studies of the active volcanoes of Papua New Guinea from 1969 to 2016. The papers consist of letters, notes, reports, and maps, together with colour and black-and white prints, negatives, colour transparencies (both 35 mm and 60 mm), 35 mm lecture slides and some CDs (which comprise copies of some items from the collection). The collection also documents the work of other volcanologists including Dr N.H. Fisher, G.A.M. Taylor, M.A. Reynolds, R.J.S. Cooke and Dr Takashi Kizawa.
