Abstract Or Scope
The records of the Constitutional Convention include lists of candidates, how to vote information and publications of the Australian Electoral Commission, and other material relating to the electoral process. In the main, however, the collection comprises material collected from delegates to the Constitutional Convention by staff of the National Library, or issued by the Convention Media Centre. A full set of public submissions to the Constitutional Convention are held. In addition a significant quantity of website material, representing delegates and their agents and the product of a variety of media servers is also of interest. An extensive collection of news cuttings covering the period of the Convention is also included.

Recovery after the Black Summer bushfires, south east Australia, 2020-2022, 2020-2022

Abstract Or Scope
This collection documents various aspects of recovery after the Black Summer bushfires. The collection focus on 3 distinct areas affected by the fires. The first documents recovery, temporary housing, and residents affected by the Badja Forest Rd fire in and around the Bega Valley Shire which experienced some of the most destructive blazes. The second documents 'Possum' activists from GECO [Goongerah Environment Centre] in Victoria protesting against the logging of an unburned section of old growth forest in the Errinundra National Park. The third focuses on wildlife conservation efforts on Kangaroo Island and documents two conservators looking to measure the effects of the bushfires on the micro-trapdoor spider and the dunnart.

The collection comprises two boxes of files relating to the ABC Radio National Program Poetica, which ran for 18 years and reached weekly audience of 90,000 listeners. Poetica was first broadcasted in February 1997 and continued until February 2015. Program covered Australian and international poetry. The files contain complete list of programs and subjects, program briefs, publicity flyers, press clippings and correspondence with Australian authors and publishers, and letters from listeners.

They deal in particular with: the treatment of Aborigines in Queensland and Western Australia and of Maoris in New Zealand; charges made by Reverend J. Gribble in Western Australia; the visit of Maori chiefs to England in 1882 and 1884; the Pacific labour trade and the treatment of Pacific Islanders in Queensland; the 1875 Pacific Islanders Protection Bill; cases involving Jason, Carl and other labour vessels; the annexation of New Guinea in 1884; and land rights and race relations in Fiji and Tonga.

Presenter and administrator, Adrian Jose began his long career in Australian broadcasting as a radio announcer-in-training with the Australian Broadcasting Company in 1930. He held a number of management positions in Queensland and New South Wales branches of the Australian Broadcasting Commission before his 1949 appointment as Director of Programme Services at the Australian Broadcasting Control Board, a post from which he retired in 1971.
