This collection comprises working and personal papers of the late John Halden (Hal) Wootten AC, QC, 1922-2021. Wootten's papers cover his high profile career where he was involved in a wide range of matters of national significance including his years as a barrister, foundation dean of the University of New South Wales Law School, a judge of the Equity Division of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Chair of the Press Council, President of the Australian Conservation Foundation, a Commissioner into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody, and a Deputy President of the Native Title Tribunal. His papers include notebooks from field-work on Manus Island in 1947, information about the influential LawAsia Foundation from the 1950s, and a folder containing details of the original meetings that established the Aboriginal Legal Service in Sydney in 1970. He acted for both employers and employees in important industrial disputes in the 1960s, out of Chambers he shared with both John Kerr and Gough Whitlam in Sydney. Included in this material on the case of James Savage, aka Russell Moore, a Yorta Yorta and Wemba Wemba man who was incarcerated in the United States of America. Wootten was given leave from the Royal Commission to provide evidence for the trial in California.

The book was later published in the United States, the United Kingdom and Holland. Leaning towards infinity was written over a period of several years and the papers comprise correspondence with publishers, editors and colleagues; research notes; early ideas, edited drafts and proofs.The novel evolved from a play of the same name, written by Woolfe and first performed in the United States in 1995. There are papers relating to the development of the script and to productions of the play in the United States, New Zealand and Australia.

The collection also includes nine audio cassettes with recordings of church service, rallys and meetings relating to the Chamberlain Case, two cassettes released by the Plea for Justice Committee, a cassette tape of an interview with Betty Hocking by Alan Williams (1988) and a video (VHS) of an interview with Michael Chamberlain (1984).

There are reports (Ellington and Salmon Reports of 1939 and 1928), correspondence with Air Force personnel and H.V.E. Evatt, then the High Court Judge. The papers include press clippings regarding World War II and defence issues and Sir Richard's career in the Air Force. There are also records concerning Sir Richard's O.B.E. award, his speeches, personal correspondence and printed material concerning aeronautics.

Collection of images documenting Blacktown City Council's Diwali Lights Competition in Nirimba Fields, Blacktown, New South Wales. Images show families posing in front of their homes, decorated with lights and Rangoli artworks, often taking the form of a lotus flower. The annual competition sees residents decorate their homes, lighting up streets with imagery and floral arrangements. $2,500 in cash prizes is offered each year for the best decorated properties across Blacktown City's 5 Wards. 'Best Street' acknowledges neighbours who come together in the spirit of Diwali to create a festive and culture-filled atmosphere in the street they each call home. Each year the street that successfully takes out this title receives a sign erected acknowledging them as the winner of 'Best Street Blacktown City Diwali Lights Competition 2024'.

50th anniversary of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, 26 January 2022, 2022

Founded on the 26th January 1972, 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the Aboriginal Tent Embassy, one of the world's longest continuing protest sites. This collection captures some of the activities to mark the 50 year anniversary, including an Invasion Day rally, performances and displays at the site. Some images feature Euahlayi Elder Ghillar Michael Anderson, the last surviving member of the group of four men who established the embassy on the lawns of Old Parliament House.
