The collection includes correspondence, photographs, notes, research material (primarily photocopies) and manuscript drafts relating to the researching and writing of Cochrane's book Simpson and the donkey: the making of a legend (1992). The research material gathered by Cochrane documents the life and legend of stretcher-bearer John Simpson Kirkpatrick, who died in the Gallipoli campaign of World War I. The collection also includes an alphabetical list of the Ship's Manifest, a copy of Estonia's War Children: a fractured generation, compiled and narrated by Mai Maddisson, a visitor's book from a reunion of former inhabitants of the Northam Migrant Camp in Western Australia plus material relating to Agnes Karlik's father, Gustav Kovacs, who was a pioneer of the Hungarian film industry.

The collection also includes papers relating to McQueen's activities as a visiting lecturer and to the 1998 exhibition and conference "Typically? The Status for Women in the Philosophy Profession (SWiPP) of the Australasian Association of Philosophy offered their historical records of women's struggle for inclusion in the philosophy profession. The collection of documents consists of reports from SWiPP regarding the extreme difficulties women in the industry face, correspondence regarding the implementation of active measures to include and champion both women doing philosophy and feminist philosophy as a sub-discipline, as well as conference pamphlets dating back to 1982. There are 149 A4 pages of text, and the remaining 54 are printed in booklet format. All are printed on standard white paper, excluding the covers of 2/3 booklets, which are red and orange/pink respectively.
