David Laurence Rix (known as Lonnie Lee) born in Sydney, N.S.W. recalls his family background; his school years at Trinity Grammar (Sydney) as a boarder for 8 years; his parent's influence in music; country music influence; listening to country music broadcasts on the radio; impressions of music as a teenager; student announcer/panel operator at 2GB; training as a panel operator at Macquarie Broadcasting 1956; music competitions, eg the Trocadero in the late 1950s & Amateur Hour on television; background information on artists 1958; Frank Bourke White Rose Orchestra; return to Sydney from Walgett, N. S.W. 1958; his band Laurie Rix and the Beatnix; Johnny O'Keefe and an offer to appear on 6 O'clock Rock (T.V. program); reasons for changing his name to Lonnie Lee; 1976 Good old days of rock n roll tour; comments on the musical & entertainment industry.
Lee talks about his music career, appearing at The Stadium; Australian composition of songs; demise of Australian songs due to the British influence; Bandstand (T.V. program); showground circuit tour; his musical involvement today, performing with his own band.
