Fokloric recording. Dominica Forchi was born in Italy, 1920. She recalls her early life in the Calabrian region of Italy. Dominica talks about her family and future husband emigrating to Australia. She talks about arranged marriages and her own marriage in 1940; the treatment of Italian migrants during World War 2; her husband being interned at Orange, N.S.W. for 7 months and how it affected her family; buying a farm after the war, farm life and conditions; the arrival at Leeton of the Italian church in 1957; that many Italians migrated to Australia after the war; the improved living conditions after the war; the fruit business.
Dominica's daughter, Rita Galluzo was born 1947. She recalls her early years; working in the family fruit shop in Junee and marrying an Italian in 1971. Rita talks about speaking different Italian dialects; discrimination; Italian values and customs; the younger generation's attitude to traditions and customs.
