Eddie Allen, born in McKinlay, Qld., talks about his schooling until 6th grade; his first job; horse travelling, the route, horse breaking; Cape River, meatworks/knackery; being a jackeroo on Uralla sheep station; Cloncurry railway station, 8 trains a day, the railway staff; handling cattle at railways, counting, trucking, delivery, water, drover's role; Jeff Tankard; station work; Fort Constantine; Rocklands; working for Stanbroke Pastoral Company for 18 years, travel, breeds and hybrids, ticks; the TB program; his views on helicopter mustering and the use of motorbikes and horses; purchasing horses; droughtmaster cattle: cattle buying; handling cattle; bushfires and backburning; a Rocklands fire; firefighting equipment; cooks; cowboys; station life; meat; bronco competitions; the rivalry and pride in the bush.
