Conversation: fishing in the early days, schooldays, father's fishing history, family stories of fishing, motor boats and rowing boats, methods of rowing, sneaking on the fish, traditions passed on, local shipyards, dimensions of boats, cost of fishing boats, comparative prices of fish, types of nets, importance and method of tanning the nets, catches now compared to the old days, types of fishing done, distribution of catch through agents, characters in the fishing industry, numbers of fishermen in the early days, description of a 1930s hut, fleas, salmon boats and stories of salmon fishing, "Riverina" shipwreck, fisherman's invention of a petrol water mixture, outside fishing and storms, trapped at Gabo Island. Jessie talks of worries of fishermen's wives, communications now and then, fixing leaking boat with toilet paper, size of Mallacoota when George first came.
Conversation (continued): Jessie's background and childhood, early marriage, living in tent beside Eden wharf, competition in professional fishing, Jessie worked many jobs, cricket matches, old time dances where Dad played. George tells of learning the mouth organ, tunes learnt from Dad, dances done in Dad's era. 2.
