Esme, born at Coonamble, N.S.W. recalls her family background and their musical abilities; her school years at the convent in Baradine, N.S.W.; the Depression years; childhood games; music played, songs and dances learnt in the early years of the 20th century; bush medicine used by her mother; community life in Rocky Creek (N.S.W.) and Baradine (N.S.W.) during the 1920's &1930s; the role of women in rural communities and their involvement in community welfare organisations such as CWA, Red Cross, and Far West.
