Walter Jack, born c.1924 in Flaggy, north of Cooktown, Qld. Jack speaks about his early childhood on Cooktown Aboriginal Reserve, Qld. At the age of 5, he was removed to the Cape Bedford Lutheran Mission and he never saw his parents again. He describes the living conditions at the Mission, the evacuation to Woorabinda during WWII and his return to Hope Vale after the war. Jack also talks about the missionaries' attitude towards Aboriginal people.
