This curriculum guide outlines materials and ideas for a one-year exploratory course in French. In attempting to reach the broadest possible range of students in the community, emphasis is placed on individualized instruction, human relationships, options, and new processes for achieving greater comprehension and continuing understanding. The guide lists ten experiences, each in the form of a question. Outlines for the experiences suggest appropriate instructional goals, activities, techniques, and materials. The basic purpose of the course is to guide the student into a knowledge of French culture. Activities that demonstrate the daily customs, manners, attitudes, cultural interests, and language of the people are the essential ingredients of the course. The experiences serving as basic lesson themes are: (1) Who are you? How are you?, (2) What do you like in school?, (3) What do you like to do?, (4) Where do you live?, (5) What is your favorite holiday?, (6) What do you want to see in France?, (7) What do you want to be? What occupations are important?, (8) What will you bring to the picnic?, (9) Who's who at your house?, and (10) How do you spend your vacation? Supplementary classroom materials are appended. (RL)
