Folkloric recording. Lurlie and George Woodhouse discuss their lives, sing and play folk tunes.
CONVERSATION: Lurlie was born in Upper Castra, Tas. She recalls snaring and skinning wallabies and possums on Mt. Bluff; earning 30 shillings a piece for brush possum skins from 1928; school days; her father taking potatoes to town from Upper Castra; picking blackberries, payment would be in buying clothes for the family; how domestic chores were done in the 1930s; never having seen the Cobbler's dance line Step dancing; the story about train 'Little Georgie'; the bullock story, 1940; her grandfather; health conditions, bush nurses, doctor came out on horse in an emergency, bush nurse looked after mum for fortnight after a birth; no telephones, rode horse to get doctor; George recalls a man being carried out of the mountains after an accident; George talks about accident with tractor in 1962 and their block of land.
