Byrne speaks about being removed from his mother and stepfather at Christmas Creek Station, W.A. and placed first at Moola Bulla Station, then later at Beagle Bay Mission. He contrasts the difficult living conditions at Moola Bulla with conditions at Beagle Bay Mission. At the age of 14, Byrne's mother died and he was released into the care of his father. He then worked at a variety of jobs in the Northern Territory and Western Australia. He has obtained access to the files relating to his removal, but they do not reveal why he was removed.
