Collection content is mainly shipping of Australian interest, chiefly 19th century. Most photographs were not taken by Dr Humphery. Images include: subjects of marine interest, ships, lighthouses, harbours, ferries, life on board ship, races, regattas, shipwrecks, divers. Also includes albums of views, rural scenery and personal subjects taken in Sydney, North and South Coast of New South Wales, Katoomba, Newcastle, Canberra area, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, United Kingdom, Europe and United States.
- Biography/History:

Dr E.M. Humphery, Sydney medical doctor, shipping enthusiast and historian, died 1961. Dr Humphery presented public lectures using 3.5 x 3.5 inch lantern slides. Lectures were on historical subjects of travel and shipping. Ref.: Australian popular photography, Nov. 1961, p. 12.
