Evan Palmer, born in Gunnedah, N.S.W. recalls his family background, his mother being a member of the musical Bennet family; his early schooling in rural N.S.W.; working in the General Merchants store, the electricity station and the hardware store in Gunnedah; his work in Sydney; joining the local bushwalking club; his involvement with and building of the historical society museum; his retirement as a storeman with TAFE.
Palmer speaks about musical members of his mother's family; George Bennett, a timber worker learnt the concertina in the bush. George came from Gulgong, N.S.W. played at parties during WWI. Palmer recalls information about George's concertina, a Stanley concertina. George's son Ken also played the concertina, mostly his father's tunes.
