Tim Boxshall born in 1995, speaks about living at Duffy before the fire; going to Duffy Primary; his friends, soccer, the pine forest and neighbours; the days leading up to the fire; the family preparing for launch of his mother's CD on 19 Jan.; the 500 CD's melting; the replanning and holding of a new launch; remembering the smoke from the fire the year before (Christmas 2001); thinking Duffy was a fire free suburb; the day of the fire; the colours of the sun and sky; the fire in the backyard; leaving the house and being taken by the police to Cooleman Court and by special bus to Phillip College evacuation centre; meeting friends in the same situation; the experience of walking to the Diplomat Hotel from Narrabundah evacuation centre; discussion of how his dog might have been feeling; walking to mother's friend place the next morning; going to the coast for a week with his sister Sophie and uncle.
Boxshall talks about staying with his grandmother after returning from the coast; other families who had been through fires; going back to school after the fire; the move to Stirling and going to Duffy Primary School, having to drive instead of walking or riding; moving to O'Connor; how he misses Duffy; moving schools and his first day of new school; settling in; not thinking much about the fire; things that have helped: the bike shop, Duffy Primary School and the vouchers for Target; things he wishes he'd saved; things he misses: his Playstation games, Snowbear and his other teddies; his sister Sophie's experience with a journalist; his plans for the future.

Tim Boxshall is the son of Simone Penkethman and brother of Sophie Penkethman, both of whom were also interviewed for the ACT bushfire Oral History Project.
