Bohdan Mykytiuk was born in Northam, W.A. in 1950. His parents moved to Western Australia from a Displaced Persons (DP) camp in Germany during 1949. Mykytiuk speaks about his early life and schooling; he reflects on the attitudes of others toward the DP's; his Ukrainian heritage; the continuance of the traditions among Ukrainians in Australia; learning songs of the partisans and Cossacks from his father and singing these songs; makes the comment that some of these songs had been forgotten in the Ukraine and that they have been preserved in Australia; other aspects of Ukrainian culture preserved in Australia including food and craft.
