Brian Clifford (Bix) Bickford talks about wartime; his parents and grandparents; his schooling; musical beginnings; radio; singing and comparing; country and western music; Rock and Roll; club work and his band, 'Bix Bryant and the Raiders'; members of his band, how they met and formed; doing covers off the radio; the formation of new folk group; 'Bandstand', and 'Sing Sing Sing'; other contemporaries; Bluegrass music; 'Maxims' and other venues; the folk revival in Sydney; Elvis Presley; moving to Queensland in late 1960's; Chuck Quinton; Mareeba Rodeo; Holloways Beach, 1969; the folk music scene; moving to the Mowbray Valley, leasing a block; tells story of leasing; sharing the block, building their houses of stone off the block; meeting his partner Jill and their family; continuing to sing locally; their place becoming a centre for musicians and singers; his large repertoire of music; the 'Low Isles Preservation Society', its operations and work; becoming a local volunteer in fire brigade and the family involvement; Bill Clinton; Pamela Stevenson; funnel web spider bites, the effects and his recovery.
