Ken Briggs enlisted in the Australian Navy in 1941, training as an ASDIC (detection of craft by reflected sound) operator. He was transferred to the U.K. as an Australian sailor and served on a number of ships including the 'Fairmile' class boats. He talks about these craft and his time serving in various theatres of war; being nominated for officer training which he completed successfully in England; volunteering for missions in submarines; training as a diver for the X Craft, midget submarines; successful missions in which he took part; leaving the Navy and his career in industry.
