Some of the reasons for the proliferation of futures courses are discussed and the findings of a recent comprehensive survey of high school futurist courses are summarized. These include mention of some techniques peculiarly common to futures studies. They include science fiction, scenarios, the Delphi Technique, a technique called "What If?", and games and simlations. A list of publications and six centers for materials on futures studies are supplied for school personnel contemplating the initiation of futures studies courses in their schools. Programs described at 10 schools that have developed futures studies conclude the report. (Author/MLF)
