This document contains witness testimonies from a two-part Senate hearing called to examine different aspects of the problem of delivering appropriate, affordable, long-term health care and catastrophic coverage for older adults in America. Opening statements by Senator David Pryor are included for both sessions of the hearing. A statement by Senator Dale Bumpers is also included. At the first session of the hearing in Fort Smith, Arkansas, testimony is included from Jim Medley, Arkansas Home Health Association; Nelma Bennett, Western Arkansas Area Agency on Aging; Pat Phillips, Arkansas Medical Society; James McDonald, Arkansas Hospice Association; and Robert Lane, Arkansas State Association of Life Underwriters. Sarah Lovett and Sam Hocutt describe long-term health care needs of their families. At part two of the hearing in Little Rock, Arkansas, testimony is provided by: (1) Robert Eubanks and Ron Sheffield, Arkansas Insurance Department; (2) George Mitchell, Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield; (3) Dewey Lantrip, Governor's Advisory Council on Aging; (4) Beth Smith and David Lipschitz, Veterans Administration Medical Center; (5) David Clark, Mineral Springs, Arkansas; (6) Herb Sanderson, Arkansas State Department of Human Services; (7) Roger Busfield, Arkansas Hospital Association; and (8) Dixie Dugan, Central Arkansas Area Agency on Aging.
