This guide is divided into four main parts. Part 1 explains the meaning for teachers of affective domain and states the purpose of the guide, which is to provide a practical, teachable, measurable, and accessible approach to development of positive social behaviors and attitudes in physical education. Part 2 presents outlines of the basic foundations of positive teacher behavior (e.g., acting as a good role model, providing positive feedback, and empathizing with students). In the third part, goals and objectives are presented, in schematic form, first for grades K-12 in general and then for grades K-6, 7-9, and 10-12. The fourth part, on practical programming, describes a planned approach toward attainment of stated K-12 affective learning goals. The approach is called "The Care Package" for the first letter of each of its elements: communication, action, reinforcement, and evaluation. These four elements are interlinked and structured for use by teachers in accordance with the demands of their respective programs. Activities are outlined for each element. A list of resources and samples of a number of forms conclude the document. (JD)
