Records contain papers concerned with the Empire Marketing Board including its establishment in 1926, relations with the Imperial Economic Committee, the reconstruction of the Board, 1931, and the abolition of the Board, 1933. Also includes correspondence between Tallents and A.C.D. Rivett, Chief Executive Officer of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, 1931-33. Subjects include Empire agricultural economic surveys, work of C.S.I.R., economic conditions in Australia, E.M.B. publicity in Australia, etc. Also contains photographs taken in Surakarta, Java, and of Malaya, letter (1928) to S. Tallents re Malaya, letter-diaries, 1928 April-May re travels in Malaya, Singapore and Java visiting plantations, schools, agriculture organisations, tin-smelting works at Pulau Brani, rubber factory, tea and quinine estate, research stations and notes for the report on tour of Ceylon, Malaya and Java, and sugar research in Java.
