Background

Scope and content:
Collection of research material relating to the publication of Elizabeth Fred Brenchley's three books related to the First World War: White’s Flight, Stoker’s Submarine and The Mythmaker. The collection includes diaries kept by submariners and original photographs collected from their families. The collection also includes letters and photographs relating to war correspondent Ellis Ashmead-Bartlett, which were given to the Brenchley's by Ashmead-Bartlett's son (who had no descendents).
