Biographical / Historical:

Following head gardener roles at Sydney's Admiralty House and Federal Government House, he was appointed Officer-in Charge of Afforestation in Canberra in 1913. In this role Weston was charged with creating an urban landscape compatible with the city to come, under instruction from Director of Design and Construction,","\u003cspan class='persname'\u003eWalter Burley Griffin\u003c/span\u003e. Weston established nurseries, travelled to acquire seeds, and conducted trials to determine which species could grow in the capital. The year after his 1926 retirement to Sydney he was awarded an MBE. Dying of cancer in Sydney in 1935, Weston's ashes were scattered in Canberra at the Parliament House park he had designed."]}
