Imre describes how her father was based in the training camp at the time of the Cowra Breakout because he was too old to be sent for overseas service, the various camps her father had been stationed in, his patriotic fervour, the attitude amongst the Forbes community, that there had been a warning of an imminent Breakout, how her brothers played a mock attack on her by pretending to be Japanese escapees, recounts some of her father's wartime stories, some stories about the Italian prisoners of war such as the POW who attended Mass, the positive attitudes of the local community towards Italian POWs.
