Ruth Wallace-Hennings, born 1933, Mornington Island, Qld. Wallace-Hennings speaks about her parents who were both separated from their families as children, and about her own removal to the dormitory at Mapoon Mission, Qld. at the age of 6. She describes conditions in the dormitory where she remained for one year. Wallace-Hennings attended school until the age of 13, and later moved to Thursday Island where she married. She also talks about the forcible removal of people from the Mapoon Reserve to facilitate mining and the role of the Presbyterian Church in these events.
